October MARSBalloon Flight Announced!

The next MARSBalloon flight, named Elysium after the volcanic region of Mars, will take place (weather permitting) on the last week of October 2014. To be included on this flight your experiments need to be with us by Thursday 23rd October.

As with our June flight, known as Tharsis (see the video!), we will be launching 100 student Mars experiments on a high altitude balloon 30km up into Earth’s atmosphere where they will experience conditions very similar to the surface of Mars. For this flight we have added data logging facilities for electronics experiments, this feature is experimental and channels are limited so let us know if you want this functionality as soon as you can.

For more information, rules and experiment ideas please read our updated teachers pack.

Teachers who haven’t already registered their UK secondary school class or club should do so now, for free, on our register page. Teachers who have previously registered for the October flight should receive a confirmation email within the next 48 hours. If you do not receive this email please notify us via our contact us page.

This is your last chance this year to participate in this literally out of this world STEM activity!
